This is Fry. He has a thing for Massey Fergusons, particularly the 1983 245 model, which is obviously why he’s so happy.
On the other hand, this poor tractor is so abused that I legitimately feel bad for it. It’s just rolled 600 hours and has already had two partial engine rebuilds and the latest shop did such a piss poor job with everything that it needs the engine and transmission separated again to fix most of their errors.
Under 50 hours from this last service, the engine would not stop overheating. This was the “coolant.” It smelled wonderful and contained numerous metal filings.
It needs a lot of love.
A LOT of love. Poor guy.

He’s ripped off a paw pad before and it’s been a really pricey vet visit. He’ll run on gravel until his paws are raw and the boots help to prevent paw injuries. They look a little goofy but they’re much less expensive than another vet visit.

My dog did not want to wear his after a paw injury. They are hard to get on good.

Fry is adorable.
I’m surprised a shop with such low standards can stay in business in such a niche industry. I figured that sort of mechanic usually ended up repairing cars.

I think it’s some shade-tree automotive mechanic that didn’t want to turn down money, so they likely accepted the job with zero knowledge.

I love the tractor posts here. Which reminds me... I need to put our old Ford 650 higher up on my to do list. Just needs the governor rebuilt I think.
